Grace with Her Child

She looks with compassionate eyes

Tender but strong

Beautiful and worn

She smiles, tears flowing down her cheek

Painful longing turns

Joy dispels despair

Her child looks up with delicate eyes

Playful but wise

Loving and fond

Her child smiles, cheeks rosy with revere

Contentment turns to adoration

Life becomes celebration

Grace lifts her child near her face

Affection becomes embrace

Lush love pauses life's race

Author notes

About a real mother and her child
But also we, who know God, are a child of grace

  • This is one of the best poems I have ever had a privilege to read. As I read this poem I feel I am reading about my own daughter and myself.

Thanks for your creative mind and heart.
