Tongue Tied

To caress you is delight
yet seems not enough
physical expressions but mere penance
for to love you is much more

spoken words slip the tongue
when enraptured
the glow your presence

in solitude
one's inner quest
of fidelities truths
to their merit penned

in endless words a soul
to open
in revelations
of inner most core

deepest secrets shared to light
as fears rested now
to understanding

two unified
of open heart

  laid to ink......

Author notes

Your prompt is a line from Fall Out Boy's song "Fame < Infamy":
"I'm all right in bed, but I'm better with the pen."

Thought I'd give it a whirl. Communication is a strong part in any relationship.

I really love the message and the feel of this poem, of growing closer through communication and poetry, rather than just through physical love. I especially enjoyed the first stanza, and the difference between caressing and loving. This was a delight to read. You took the prompt to new heights; imagine something this beautiful coming from a Fall Out Boy song.

Well penned and thanks for your entry,
