AN Epithetical Liberation

I've watched you for years, always side by side,
As days come in and pass like the morning tide.

Yet there's no rest of this dedicated heart,
Though a torturous secret tears me apart.

We laugh and talk like old friends do,
but in the end there is always just me, and the beautiful you.

A lingering touch, a certain look and my heart stops dead in beat.
Why can't I just speak my mind, and ask if we could be.

I watch the phone, call after call, waiting, each second taking forever...
Then when I've given up all hope, I hear Jack Johnson, and smile because we truely are "Better when we're together."

Maybe one day Ill pick up the courage from my trusty bag of tricks,
but until that day this is my way of dropping a subtle hint.

An epithetical liberation of my hearts one true desire.
