My Song of Life

Missing image
I sing my song of life
My words for all to hear
The path I walk is straight
I walk it without fear

Mother Earth sustains me
Providing with her grace
Taking only what I need
What’s taken I replace

I shall not soil the Earth
With what she cannot use
I shall not poison nature
For this would be abuse

I learn from those around me
Those that swim or crawl
The four legged and the flyers
With honor for them all

All things I will respect
They were given by The Creator
Grandfather watches over me
There is no power greater

This life was given to me
I'll respect it till I'm gone
Helping those in need
Try never to do wrong

When my time draws near
I shall sing my own death song
Then sit within the circle
With my people where I belong

Author notes

Quote:
I cannot think that we are useless or God would not have created us. There is one God looking down on us all. We are all the children of one God. The sun, the darkness, the winds are all listening to what we have to say.

Thank you so much "Old Codger" for your wonderful entry!

  • this reminds me of a wall hanging I have with the Native American 10 Commandments on it. If today's society could only see past it's own nose and realize where it's headed....

But I suppose, society is made up of individuals and if enough of us can reclaim the great circle, we might just save us from ourselves.

Poetically, I've nothing to offer, this piece stands tall with great flow and rhyme and substance. A fantastic write, thanks for pointing me in this direction.
