Poem For A Young Child

Climbing up the stairs
On the way to bed
Who can I see on the top of the stairs?
My fluffy teddy bear named Ted.

Now I'm at the top
I grab Ted with both my hands
I aim for my room and throw Ted
And on my bed he lands

Jumping onto my bed
I cuddle Ted and hold him tight
Mum gives me a cuddle and a kiss
And whispers to me 'Goodnight'.

Mum leaves my room
Shutting over the door
The light is switched off
And now I'm more scared than ever before

I pull my blanket
Right over my head
I shut my eyes really tight
And snuggle into Ted

In my head
I picture the light
Now my room doesn't seem as scary
And I try to go asleep for the night

As I begin to drift
Into a deep sleep
I cuddle Ted and hold him close
And begin to count some sheep

You have written this really well from a child's perspective....

Love the rough & tumble, throwing Ted on the bed and jumping in.

As I had boys..this tended to be their way of going to bed.

     A great read.

    Very well done.
