Hypochondriac

Lightning like acid crawls across my skull
I surrender to the pillow of my lies
Grasping the throne of thorns
The place only I deserve to sit
Wallowing in selfish pity
Forgetting the world beyond my own

Static fills my brain as I struggle to breathe
Dare I fall to comatose results yet again
Letting my heart beat when it pleases
Give up on forcing the organ to act
Living as a zombie in chains
Reluctant desperation setting in slowly
Like concrete

How dare I fight the bravery of my body
As it lies to itself saying "I'm okay"
Must I continue to grasp my own pain
As it disappears into itself

Until I realize it does not exist
Nor has it ever

Didn't know what to expect with such a title. I have to say that this is different from what you usually write and did a great job at doing it. I want to thank you for your entry into the following contest: "Already On My Favorites."

PS: Your entry has been blessed by the three wise clappers, but don't spend the whole nine points in one place(lol)!

  • I love this piece, you've used beautiful imagery; just amazing
