The Sunset

The day is drawing to an end.
The sun sat high in the sky all day long,
and now he is once again bidding us farewell.
As the sun slowly begins it's descent,
Out beyond the horizon,
God's paintbrush goes wild.
With fantastic shades of purple, blue, yellow,
And many other colors and combinations,
The world lights up for it's grand finale of the day.
From the top of God's mountain,
We can see the glory and splendor of His creation.
Looking down at the trees below,
We see the many shades of green.
A light breeze comes along and gently rustles them
Making it seem almost as if they are waving goodbye to the sun.
The beautiful valley of water sits calmly,
One of the most incredible shades of blue that has ever been seen,
As well as obediently reflecting the majesty of the sky above.
The pinks and purples and blues of the evening sky,
The light blue of the waters below,
Greens and darker yellows of the forest.
All of these put to shame anything we could have come up with.
As God sits back to admire His handiwork,
All we can do is stare.
Thank you Lord for another astounding masterpiece
Painted on your canvas of light.

    I seem to have already commented on it. But I shall comment again. This is such a beautiful poem with great imagery. I do think it may be easier to read if there were some breaks in it, but that's just me. You have done a wonderful job. Thanks for entering and Good luck in my contest.

    This is great! Sunsets are so inspiring, and you captured that beautifully here.

    I find that I feel most at peace and one with the world when I'm out in the open air - especially at sunset. Do you agree?

    If I ever feel spiritually connected, it is then.
