We start up as high as I can imagine.
I’m completely prepared for what is to come.
The rest of them look at me like I’m insane.
The door opens up, and I feel the adrenaline kicking up.
I run as fast as I can towards the door and jump out.
I look out at the world below me, falling at an alarming rate.
It feels like I’m sailing on invisible wings, suspended in the air.
I almost want to go head first, just to feel the thrill of it.
I grab at the cord that releases my parachute.
I pull, and I feel a change; the parachute didn’t deploy.
Fear sets in, and it feels like I’m in a dream.
The earth gets closer and closer, almost teasing me.
I pull at the cord for the emergency parachute.
It doesn’t release, and I almost can’t believe it.
The thought of dying runs through my mind; I can’t save myself.
My luck has completely run out, I need to think fast.
I look around at the earth flying towards me for any type of safety.
It’s all land in sight, no chance to save myself.
I have to hope for the best.
The thrill takes over and I go head first, flying down towards the ground.
The earth becomes so close I can see small buildings.
I can almost see death heading my way.
I close my eyes and meditate, maybe that will take away the pain of impact.
I can hear screams and shouts from the people on the streets.
The earth comes up to meet me, and I hit.
I don’t have to worry about having invisible wings anymore.
I’ve got the real thing now.
