There’s no wonder why she likes metal.
Her face is covered with it.
It’s as if she’s a magnet, holding it all up.
Kind of like a freakish wonder.
Maybe the metal is keeping her together.
Maybe she was melded in a way.
Maybe I’m being too rough, and maybe I don’t understand.
But something like that can’t be forced.
She just sits in the corner, keeping her head down.
She couldn’t care less about what happens.
Just blasting her heavy music, away from the world.
They think she’s a monster.
But maybe under all the hate and self pity lies a gemstone.
Under all the metal and makeup.
There could be something stronger, something happier.
A gemstone under the ashes.
Something must’ve brought her to this.
I can’t even imagine why she’s like this now.
I would ask her, but I feel it’s unnecessary.
I don’t need to put salt on old wounds.
I can’t ask her anyways, it’s too late now.
I’m under my desk, watching the blood flow.
She took her life so she may feel no more pain.
I can’t say I really blame her.
But, was it for the best?
The gemstone can’t be found now; it was horribly and unexpectedly crushed.

Thank you for entering!
I liked alot of aspects about this poem, mostly the rebellion against the ideal that is forced upon most young women and men today, I, myself have many piercings, yet I follow fashion trends, it's like a card game, you mix and you match.
Life is easier that way.
Thank you for entering, you displayed your emotions well!

Moving..
This is a very powerful write... I can feel the intensity of emotion and feeling here, unexpressed perhaps, but nonetheless brilliant. My favorite stanza was this :
"Something must’ve brought her to this.
I can’t even imagine why she’s like this now.
I would ask her, but I feel it’s unnecessary.
I don’t need to put salt on old wounds."
The end, I felt was a bit shifted, or out of place... But that's just me
Great job on working with the prompt! All my best in the contest!

YES, I believe a gemstone can be found anywhere! It can be found in everyone. If you work hard at it, you can make it. I know that alot people feel like they will never get out of the rut they're in, and that's what breaks my heart the most. There's these people that are hard workers and they really what to make something out of their lives, but the things that have happened to them are stopping them from doing it. Just continue to fight through the battle and hope for the best. YOU CAN DO IT IF YOU REALLY TRY!!!
