The Strike of Awe

FLASH!!
The storm rages on.
It has been building in intensity
From the moment it began.
The storm surges, the wind rages,
Waves rock while thunder crashes,
FLASH!!
Lightning bursts forth from the sky
Lighting up the world with its brilliance.
Clouds continue forming over both land and sea,
Hiding the night sky and showing only the wrath of the storm.
Very distantly, the setting sun is barely visible
Waving farewell to the world and entrusting it's safety
To the moon for the night.
FLASH!!
The glory and magnificence of the lightning strike
Leaves all who see it staring in awe.
The city is deserted.
All the people in it are inside their homes with their families
Watching the storm from a safe place,
Yet almost afraid to stop watching.
Incredible lightning displays continue to break forth from the night sky
Lighting the world once again.
Breaking off into many branches,
Some striking the ground below.
Others content themselves to singe the air
And tear apart the clouds.
FLASH!
The world stares.
Flash!
The storm is ending.
As the clouds break up and
Begin to go along on their way,
The moon shines brightly forth.
The storm has moved on
And the earth below is safe once more.
All is peaceful and calm,
Yet still filled with awe
Over the splendor and might of
The strike.
