regrets

so much
taken for granted
when did you last stop
to look at the flowers
when did you last
listen to the joyful song of birds
do you ever think
how life would be
if suddenly they were gone
or even just faded
if the flowers were no longer bright
but instead dull shades of grey
would you miss them
would you regret not taking the time to look
what if the birds stopped singing
or just sang quietly
that you could no longer hear the tune
would you notice and miss them
would you regret closing the window
on a saturday morning
would you regret not listening

Author notes

this was writrten after a trip to the doctors. I've always had problems with my eyes but I was told that those problems were probably going to get worse and there isn't much the doctors can do, I will most likely completely lose the sight in my left eye and will slowly lose the sight in my right eye also.

Oh wow this is just a beautiful poem and makes the reader go into deep thought. I really needed to read this poem today because well I am still alive and yes I would miss the flowers and the birds if they were truly gone. Even though I check out and forget that they are there when I finally wake up again to life and living I'm so grateful to see and hear them. Your poem portrays such beautiful imagery and the realities of life.

I read your authors notes and I hope and pray that your eyes will experience healing. I'm so sorry that you've had to suffer so much, for I do truly understand pain and suffering that is for sure. But everybody journey is different and their pain is their pain but my heart is full of compassion for those whom have suffered and are suffering.

    Wishing You Many Blessings,
    Much Love Always,
    Kelle Marie

i love this poem. It shows me what I do already know.. how precious is the beauty all around me in nature, all the little things that so many do take for granted. If I were to lose my eyesight, I would wish that my mind would remember everything down to the smallest detail. Since no one can predict the future of anything that could happen to us, let us appreciate all that we do have now..for we do not know if it will be there tomorrow. Thanks for this reminder and I do wish for you joy in the midst of sorrows of the past and now. =)

    Well beaten track

I am sorry for your pain. The thoughts you pen will be recognised by many including those not threatened in this way. But it is very difficult to say anything very novel about them. Might a few question marks help?

    Poet

I think we take sso much of life for granted . And what if all these beautifull things were not to be? Then would there be deep regrets. I wonder. But your words tell me you have it together. Write on young poet.

  • Very Beautiful and Thought-Provoking

So much truth within this great piece of writing here. I found the words here hit home. This is a piece of writing that everybody should read. It makes you pause and ponder upon the gifts of life that is bestowed on us...if only we care to look.

This really does open one's eyes to really look at the world around us, not as before, but through new-born eyes. Very well done my friend.
