I had a wonderful poem in my head
but I was already cozy in my bed
My muse said, that’s okay
you’ll remember it at break of day
So I dozed off to a peaceful sleep
my memory promising my poem to keep
Then my muse went nitey-nite
so warm and comfy we slept so tight
We both must have overslept
but we remembered our promises kept
It’s just that though we tried as we might
we forgot what the poem was about last night
The whole day went by so fast
busy, busy but finally, at last…
With the dishes washed, the laundry done
I settled down to write the perfect poem, just one
But something happened along the way
As once again my muse went astray
But I haven’t given up just yet
someday I’ll think of a poem I can’t forget
(Another silly Partners In Crime contest poem)

Me To
I can write a perfect poem in my head and forget it before I can set pen to paper
maybe these lovely poems about the Muse will stimulate mine long enough to finish something constructive. I used to write as a Rebel Writer but with my two partners no longer available to come to my aid I thought better of it and became wickedruby instead.

ah, yes, i used to keep pen and paper beside my bed, to catch those muse moments.
now i just fall wherever and wake up in awkward places with aching bones. still, it is good to live and not just stagnate like so many seem to do, i know i am alive for i keep bashing myself with poetry

and a remionder for you of love

Smiling
Purring
We see you
In our dreams
In your dreams
Love curling
On your lap
We sat on Your mat
And enjoyed Life

Oh, Ian, it makes me so happy to see that you've posted that little poem here for me. I still miss my cats and to read this again brings tears... not of sadness but of the sweet thought of you remembering how I felt at the time you first wrote it. I used to have it on my author home page and I'm pretty sure I still have it in one of my poetry folders on my pc. I had changed the page and saved everything on the old one but couldn't find any of it afterwards. Now I'm going to add it back to my author page

Thank you for reading and commenting on my poem here

When the fire is lit we note its shape because the ashes left will blow away.

Hahaha this looks like my muse..

It's often there, in bed..but than the next day I remember nothing more than a few words...
Meaning..still no poem..
But yours is there..
So you did remember it...
Good luck to you Dee

Here is a counterpoint---
while lines and rhymes
I attempt to put into memory
or even scribble on a pad,
the result if a wipe-put
with invisible ink, both
in memory and unreadable pad.
However, when in the midst
of creating my continually growing
stories, the time before falling asleep
was when I planned the next installment,
what would happen next and next and next.
And I always remembered what I had planned
when hours later I got to the keys, and Rayne
andEileen, Guy and Gwen followed my lead
as the story grew.
I think the difference is trying to remember
specific words and rhymes which is hard to do
as compared to plotting out the concept,
the frame of what one wants to do---
and put that in the mind!
Love your piece,
with which so many
of us can agree!

Common theme
What a great poem about something that has probably happened to all serious writers. Best Wishes! I hope you are not stuck in that Arizona heat down there. I would give you more stars but, believe it or not, I can't figure out how to do it.

Thank you, Wesley

As for more stars... they are stars for points you earned with your comment... then I click on the stars in your comment to add more stars for you
And yes, the heat is here. We've already had triple diget temperatures last month... several of them, and more to look forward to the rest of the summer.
We've reached 110 some days here in Phoenix. I sure miss Seattle in the summertime.

Have you ever had something in your head and had to get up to write it down. That is do annoying because it's always around 1 am and the next day is a work day. But I've learned, if I don't write the idea down...I won't remember it. Of course when I read the idea in the morning it either makes no sense or seems really silly...then again, I do silly.

We ought to just chuck everything and just get a good nights sleep and not worry about lost gems.

or you could plop your tablet on the steering wheel and write it on the way to work...

Thank you, Yem. You sure seem to know what I'm talking about. I'm always so certain I'll remember it in the morning and I NEVER do.
