there was sunlight in your eyes
but i always keep in the back of my mind
that soon we'll have to say goodbye.
i can hear it in your tone when you speak
that a part of me never wants you to leave
because i want to know what we can be,
what we can see,
if you really are down to ride with me;
i wonder what would happen if i begged on my knees
told you please,
i really, really don't want you to leave.
you use a business man's words
while i'm trying to learn how to touch fire
without getting burned
and i'll admit,
your tongue has tricks
so do your lips;
kid, you sure know how to take a risk.
but you'll leave in the end,
i may never see you again
and then all we'll have is "remember when".
it sounds sad,
i know,
but i don't want you to go
because in the end
what will we have to show?
just the smile in your eyes
a welcome shimmer,
a shining light
it's light brown sunrise in your eyes
but now all that's left,
is the word goodbye.

and i think it's hilarious how your name is dog tag because the person who this poem is for is moving away and i was going to give this to him along with a dog tag with a picture of us on it. lol =]
