And the weather was stormy, uneasy
gone treacly,
close and hung blanket, humidity.
Withering in it's diligent
sapping of energy,
as sludged limbs moved sloppily,
in some clumsy monopoly;
And the heavy was hindering.
Stopped to a still round our argueing assembley,
wills wavered bendily,
mending a medley of spills
and sapped energy,
flopped and flagged unendingly.
We cracked like hard mud,
under sun, unrelentlessly,
failing to find ease in the fantasy.
Danced a path, windingly
dithering slowed to a stopping and pondering
words in a wondering,
as thoughts turned to stranger things,
branched
and spilled like a twisted dream.
As runaway tangents, claimed heartbeats,
snaking away down the sweaty street.
The tarmac was stretching, unending
unbending,
lazily steaming, soft soup of toxins.
Sticky, uncertain under sneaker feet.
Sticky like melted sweets.
The slippery spoiling of white t-shirts
sweat sockets growing, yellowing
patches of smell water.
Dried up throat,
burning.
Someone said summers returning.
