Not to push too high
But she's not here
I better enjoy this
Before nausea sets in
With the years
That I don't know are coming
In childhood, I was fearless
Living on strands of time,

Butterflies below me
Instead of inside.

I wanted to add this before the last two lines but it would have made this piece too long for the contest:
"Uh, oh!
Looks like rain!
I wait to catch jewels in my mouth
At the highest point my little body can get to
While Dad gets my bike
And I slow to a stop.
We race home
With wilted flowers in bike basket
Thirsty for the prettiest glass of water
Mom can find"

Aww this was so deeply
heartfelt and filled with
sentiment. I could truly
feel the ache within,
and memories of the past.
A most wonderful take on the prompt!
Best of luck & thanks for entering
