Another Night

I hear the booms again tonight
And wonder, if my time has come
Will I see tomorrow
Will tomorrow ever come

Will I have to shed a tear
For a friend that I have lost
Or will they shed a tear for me
If I had to pay the cost

I’m proud of what I’ve done here
And would do it all again
For a soldier’s job is never done
It’s just a different war, a different sin

  • Let's pray the end is near...

The end of war, that is. I love your heart-felt poetry, it's a shame that it's so sad, but you have a real gift. Keep writing, Charlie...
    Peace & hugs,

very nice write and a joy to read one of yours again, I have laid down and wonder if it will be my last night but under different circumstances. My brother is getting shipped out to Iraq in a few days. thanks for not letting us forget those who are serving and that there is still a war that needs to be brought to an end.

So very expressive and a real view from the perception of someone who knows. I can't begin to imagine the toll it takes emotionally but very thankful for those in service. Excellent penning and a joy to read
