waiting...

when shades had been pulled
to mark the end of day
in ebbing light,  rise of night
when thoughts can encircle us
in the cycle of things done and not

I saw a shadow of a faded wish
glimpsed eye, dark corner
and window panes came in a glow

when I had forgotten
how full and beautiful the moon can be
how it felt to glide upon a silver beam

watching bare trees suddenly become full
and  a song that fills the part of me
that was simply waiting for the stars

    Ah, the silver beam
    making full the trees,
    as the mind set free
    imagines possibilities.
    You brighten the shadows, PK.

Ah that song!!! as you know I'm a big fan of DMB and Santana, having the two together playing that song is like listening to sound of heaven
Loved how you saw that Love of my life...
Playing the song now to feel your poem better.

Just like Dave's voice sounds as if his tongue were Santana's guitar strings, your words are perfected entwined with the rhythm of that song.

Yes, it is a brilliant performance, two great ones doing what they do best...I think the song is a little unusual for the depth of the lyrics; wonderful phrases but that also make one pause and think... Thanks for all ... h

  • This is beautiful, PK, a stunning pause.

Very well said, I have to remember to stop and just be, not think so much. Simplistically altered to a single sense, and just breathe. Thank you, you're poems are like vitamins to me.

  • This is gorgeous and brings a sigh...
Wow I was so relaxed reading it that I felt like I was in a boat with a special someone just gazing at that moon you describe...
Thank you for taking my imagination away somewhere beautiful

Your lines about forgetting how beautiful the moon can be reminded me of the movie with Tom Hanks & Meg Ryan, "Joe vs. the Volcano", when he's on the ocean, dehydrated, & has the sudden revelation that life is larger than his petty problems, that it truly is worth striving to survive. A lovely take on the prompt, Poet Man. Good luck in Lynda's contest.

I remember it well, huge sight...the moon over the equator; I have had a few reminders...it is truly magnificent, and we need it...for perspective.. so very true...Thanks for all...PK
