Now what? You may ask.
We continue to man our task.
Obama is just icing on an already delicious cake.
I know its more than some people can take.
Obama is the president of the USA you know,
not just for the people we call "the Negro."
We should all rally together like in November.
Did you expend so much energy that you can't remember?
Unity in numbers is what Obama stands for,
though him being Black is a fact we can't ignore.
For that reason don't you see
Is a call for unity.
What do we do now in this new day?
We stick together and find our way.
If you see someone down help them out.
Yellow, White or Brown that's what its about.
Never has a race stood all alone.
We are in a place we should ALL call home.
We are brothers and sisters we need to unite.
Maybe this is a sign to get it right.

You are so right, this is a great and thoughtful poem. I think the greatest thing about Obama is the way he encourages people to look for common ground, rather than fixate on points of division as some other folks do. He makes huge tasks seem small, like we really make them happen, working together... a great antidote to apathy. and Excellent!

Brarack is one man, prone to error, prone to flaws. But as my eldest daughter stated emphatically; "Our flaws are what makes us beautiful..." Yeah!
Your poem inspires and makes the reader know that all things are possible. There still lingers in the air far too much hatred toward our fellow human being and ourselves but there is also the scent of HOPE, and righteousness. Your poem accentuates the positive. I can always get with that. I am glad the question inspired you. I am honored that you wrote this poem and happy that you joined our Group.

Thought-Provoking
This is a very good piece of writing in which your ideas/ideals, holds true for all the human race on this planet. We are, at present, living in the 'Age of Aquarius'. This 'Age' will eventually bring us worldwide peace, all weapons will be put down as humans begin to tire of wars and violence.
That is when true 'Enlightenment' will begin...when the planets are aligned with one another, a worldwide peace will break out....but not yet. We will go through many many disasters on earth before this 'Age's effects are really felt, as we are still only at the beginning of this 'New Age'. There is hope in your piece, and with hope comes a new tomorrow. Keep writing, this was very good.

I liked both the message and your poetry, I have a little fear that "The President" won't, cant live up to the great expectations placed upon him, he has already shown courage to get thus far, will he have the courage to take on some of the more difficult expectations and dreams of his many followers, I hope he does, but fear he won't.
History is a difficult master to overcome your wise words indicate that in the second stanza, what do those that see him not as a politician, but as a saviour, really expect.
In the fourth stanza you indicate working together is salvations direction, lets hope the right see it that way, you see it is education that will change perceptions, but that takes time, so much time,
Obama wears the shoes worn by John Kennedy Lets pray this Camelot can change attitudes.

people should stop being discriminative and face the fact that we are in one universe and that we are all human....there shouldnt be a black or white in humanity...in south africa we believe that we are all equal and that we are one...people should just get over the black and white thing...and be united as you said in stanza five line 3....great work
