She'd like to dive into the dark caverns of your eyes
And swim in those pools of black water.
In the middle of the night, it is for you that she cries
As she slips ever deeper into her nightmarish slumber.
She longs for the taste of those lucious lips
That she very rarely caresses with her fingertips.
She'd give the world for one moment to feel your embrace
Before you disappear again, gone and without a trace.
Like a ghost, you fade in and out of her life,
Promising her things she feels no one can really give.
Still you persist and, in the midst of her strife,
You've stolen her heart and have become her reason to live.
She's addicted to the sensation of your body pressed against hers.
As you run your hands over her flesh and through her hair, she concurs
That there's no one she'd rather be with in this world or the next.
You're the hero and the villain, the absolute best.
But her heart lies in your palm,
And she fears for the promises you're trying to keep.
As the waters of your eyes no longer seem calm,
She knows that she will be the one who will weep.
The age old question forms in her mind,
The only question unanswered by time:
Are good things always over too fast?
Does true love really ever last?

This is partially about aspects of myself as I'm telling the story about one of my best friends and her nerdilicious self! It's a question that really does go unanswered at times. Somehow my love poems always turn out sad 
...
