With each unanswered text,
My heart grows more bitter,
Knowing how this goes,
What is in store.
I can feel it like the cold wind blowing,
The remorse I'll be feeling,
The regrets as they chill me,
Down to my bones.
I don't want to think about it,
But my mind travels to a lost land,
Of memories of days before,
Where I saw her face.
When she said she loved me,
I believed every second,
When I looked in her eyes,
I could tell she'd never felt like this before.
Little skits of her face, her skin,
Filling my mind,
Knowing,
This would be the end.
My phone vibrates like it did once before,
The worst sound I've ever heard,
Don't open the message I say,
You didn't get it.
I read it with intense eyes,
Unsure of when the tears will fall,
But the blur comes,
Like the rain from clouded skies.
As my heart is ripped from my breast,
I look to the name at my phones wallpaper,
"I love you" she said the day I took the picture,
"You promise?" I ask. "Yes"
