weak and tormented,
a bud upon life’s bush
grew among the throes of pain
wilting on the vine
before ever experiencing its beauty,
grasping at frail branches
only to stumble and fall,
she wept her young years away
afraid to speak out
she kept secrets no child should know,
until one day her world became brighter
as an angel touched her frail soul
and she began to grow once more
though lost within the miseries of experience
she sought her salvation
the written word, her expression of self
for three years
this beautiful flower opened,
slowly at first, then full bloom
brilliant among the softness of surrounding leaves
as sure as night becomes day
and the weeks and years pass by
this beautiful flower raises her head,
blooming in the morning sun
A dedication to Kari for all she does, for just being Kari

What a beauty this poem is, all your poems, I seem to really enjoy reading with ease and comfort, I have such an appreciation and respect for the talent of other's and I would look at you as something of a mentor, if you dont mind. lol
I just had some fun with that little piece, its no litterary piece, this I am aware, but who cares, if its, feels good, than do it. right? right!!!!!!!!! thanks for your comments, they are recieved with good feelings. I love your background with the flowers very pretty. and I wish you lots of luck, not that you need it with the way you write.................

What a lovely tribute, and a gentle gesture! I'm glad it won the gold!

wilting on the vine
before ever experiencing its beauty,
- how sad that is to read - we must all have our blooming time. before we waste away into nothing.

I first met Kari shortly after she joined allpoetry. Her outlook on life was not at it's best at the time and we had some long chats on Yahoo. She slowly began to change, learning to cherish life and have faith in herself. She's come a long way and I'm proud of her.
She's lifted herself from that wilting flower to becoming the spirit of life and beauty
Thank you for your comment, Ian

It took me a while to catch up with my 'must read' list, but glad I could now
This is such a beautifully written and tender tribute to our Kari, Dee
She is certainly blooming now, free to breathe and be herself in a safe and calm environment.

This is an amazing dedication, and a very worthwhile read for all who haven't met Kari yet.
You have captured the essence of her perfectly and given a great insight into her beautiful self.
Your words carry an air of sincerity that truly brighten the readers mind, and cast a vision of a rare flower coming to full bloom, and that is our Kari to a T, excellent work, Niaish for sharing.

Ah Hekate, ok, that Kari.
A lovely tribute. She does seem to get things done on AP. I often see her name in lots of places: holding contest, posting columns, who knows what else...making AP a little more bearable for a lot of people.
It sounds like she had a tough life but is now blossoming, so good for her!
A lovely tribute.
