Let's Play A Game

Around the room she runs
deciding which path to take
Slowly sealing her destiny
with every move she makes

She’s tired and about to collapse
but she continues to play the game
Knowing with every step she takes
she’s farther from being the same

Once in awhile she calls out for help
Asking for advice
Hoping that by the end
she doesn’t regret the sacrifice

She spins, and twists
and sometimes falls to the floor
but then she’s back up
and ready for more

Outside it’s frozen
but she blazes heat
while she tries her best
to ignore defeat

And I watch her from a distance
laughing at her smile
Glad to know she’s having fun
which makes it all worthwhile

Author notes

The poem's about my little sister. She got this game for Christmas last year called Halubaloo where there's all these different colored pads with pictures on them and you have to go to the pad the guy in the game tells you to go to. Well she was playing it one night in the livingroom and I was watching her and I just happened to have my notebook with me. . . Basically she struck me with inspiration (like she always seems to do) and so I wrote this.

  • Nice poem. However this is a contest for people 14 and younger. And you're 16.
    Sorry.
