She stands there, lost in a land so strange
And marvels at what she has done.
A house, a witch, and a folk so small,
And a long road of yellow brick stand before her.
How to get home? How to return
To the place where dust and poverty rule?
A Lady of Good shows the way, or part thereof.
To the Wizard, to the Emerald City, she points the girl’s way.
At journey’s end, all got their wishes but the girl
Who wants nothing, save to go back home.
She laments, and the Good Witch reappears.
She’s had the way, in the way of her Red Shoes all along.
Author notes
I'd like to credit not only the Wizard of Oz and the author of that wonderful story, but also Stephen King, for using it in his Dark Tower novels, for that was also part of the inspiration as well

I get the inspiration of L. Frank Baum (Oz). And yes, King used Oz as inspiration as well in his Dark Tower series, but I don't see his influence here. For me, it's definitely inspired by Baum's Oz. It's like a synopsis of the story but it's lacking anything of yours, is how I feel. Good thing: love the use of the word "laments". It's one of my favorite words. Thanks for entering the contest.
