As I skim through my life,
As I would a book
Certain things emerge,
and I take a second look.
The chapter with you and I,
Where we were together
Smiles and all,
Never apart from one another.
Then the darkening skies,
and clouds came about
Our love, and I,
Was left with doubt
as they went away,
I stuck around,
Though my heart astray.
Then once more,
Came the darkening
And deafening roar,
This time,we were over
My heart broken and sore.
I ended the misery,
Since the obvious signs
Were given to me.
You moved on faster,
Than I would have liked
Wounded,
By the thorns that spiked
And poked my heart,
Till it bled.
As I alone now
Filled with dread.
I continued on reading,
I still grieved
As I waited for your call,
None came though I believed
You would come to your senses,
And return
But you didn't and I,
Was left scorned and burned.
No fairy tale has come true,
For I must continue on
A new chapter without you.

I really like the way you used the book-metaphor-thingy(Aren't I so articulate today? ;D), and also the way you put your emotions into words. Though it was rather eratic from rhymn to freeverse, it was still worth it. But it didn't flow all together as smoothly as Im sure it could. Still. Great job! ;D
