Were I...

Were I a rocket in the sky
and thee the ocean blue
I'd crash my tip into the vast
And never ending you.
And float and bob among the waves
Until one day I sink
For then I'd rest and relax
And rust
On thy heart's eternal link

If rockets glare should shine too true
And fuel should make thee sick
Then of all the things which I could be
A riverboat I think.
To grace the curves and bends you share
With gracious mother earth.
And drop an anchor to the depths
To sweetly seek rebirth.
To gaze upon thy flowing form
And yet an arc apart
To look so true, your wonders blue
A sacred piece of art.

Should gentle touch offend thee much
Which I so humbly take
Then cut my hand and shake my soul
Till offenses do I break
For I would never wander past the water
If I won’t
In fear of such outrageous stages to thy person
So I don’t
Instead a plane up in the air
Which wobbles to and fro
Searching down upon the water
Places it dare not go.
For planes are not for swimming
Like the ruins of the deep
And wings with all their flowing
In the water do not sleep.
In the air I do not dare
But stay in the sky above
For in my heart, I play not part
in other people's love.
