Emotion Series, #2: Anger

everyone will suffer like me
i want it

i will show them what it is like
to be nobody

i will have my revenge reward

in the void
in the abyss
i flail
i fall
drowning in buzzing stinging voices
their words fill a hole in my heart that never empties
it tastes of iron

magma courses through my fists when i wait for the next stone
the next cutting whisper
the next person to turn away
the next awkward silence

is happiness too much to ask?
tomorrow the bottle shatters
tomorrow i erupt

tomorrow i kill to be happy one last time

Author notes

Contest notes: I gave myself a prompt here: the portrayal of a specific emotion, Anger, in poetry, since you wanted the entries to scream emotion. Apologies if it isn't up to the standard of what you expect to see. I really welcome critical feedback on this piece. I hope I tried to avoid clichés.

I gave it a derivative title; if I were to freely title this piece I would probably call it "manifesto".

Usual A/N:
Please leave a comment on what you felt when reading it, especially if you DIDN'T FEEL ANYTHING, even if you don't have anything else to say. Every piece of feedback is needed to make this work! I will try to return the favour!

This is part of a series, experimenting with conveying emotion in words. Hopefully I will be much more competent at this by the time I've finished.

What did you think?

I plan to revise this poem: please leave constructive criticism!
