As we all one by one slipped into the moon-lite clearing,
I thought about how no one else knew about our secret meetings here.
We were dressed in our finest:
the best cloths from our villiage's supply.
The ceremony was our escape;
not a soul outside our circle
of abused housewives even knew of the enchanting enclosure
in which we waltzed merrily about.
We danced, pranced, and twirled around,
feeling lighter than a feather.
For the rest of our lives we slaved over a stove,
and got beaten for doing 'wrong'.
Here, we treated eachother like royalty;
like we were one big family who understood our situations.
This was our escape from reality.
Author notes
Option 3... I guess this is kind of a sad, secretive way to think of the story behind it.

Welcome to AllPoetry!
This is certainly a different take on the prompt, but there is nothing wrong with it. Iknow there are many 'societies' out there for this exact type of thing going on. So why not put an image to it, and a sort of uplifting one at that- at least when in that circle of friends.
Welcome to AP and good luck in the contest.

What a safe haven you have written for them, well done. You do have some spelling errors that need correcting, but great poem.
