The Angel who Loved a Devil

I recall now the way our voices used to sound as we sang those old songs of our love.
I remember now the way your eyes would shine so bright as I would play the tune
and sing my soul for you.

And how your smile always made my heart race as I'd wrap my wings around you.
I remember now that nothing could touch us then.
Nothing in the span of eternity could disturb our perfect bliss.

And I miss it now.
As I stand on the edge of the world,
Waiting for it to finally come to its end.

An absolution that will never seem to come.
Until I go mad from these memories that will haunt me now forever.

Even as I remember the thunder of their screaming voices roaring the undeniable truth of your making, and the unchangeable standard of our creation, I stand here in my final defiance to our tyranous makers.

My irevocable rebellion against the laws that keep us apart.
And even though I may be condemned for it, I would rather spend eternity ina cage of burning ice than spend a single moment away from her.

Are we not given the right to choose?
or are we damned to live in the guilded cage that is our existence apart?

I will take my leap from grace,
and fall into the deepest pits of hell to find you...

I am her angel,
And I love her my Devil.

  • Last stanza stood out. Before then I was finding it mediocre and cliche but then...

this i like because it has a role reversal thing going on for it is usually the girl that loves the bad boy. it is full of emotions and it has this adamant feel to it that says this is where i stand on this and no one can change it. it gives a lot of confidence to the write. my best to you in the contest.

  • It all made sense, until the very last stanza. It all made such a perfect, painful sense.
