A sparkle in the cosmos,
in the corner of a tear;
a soliloquy of sadness
for every ear to hear,
if the world could give forgiveness
it would give her angels wings,
to lift us all above our sorrow
with pure voice, Melanie sings.
She sings of sadness
in the corner of every life,
in spite of beauty
there’s always a little strife,
when purgatory rises
her heart tugs out smiles,
with feet broken, her song
could make me walk a thousand miles.
As sips of whiskey’s stinging,
I see her through the smoke;
when the band begins playing,
her words begin to stroke;
in a moment of realization
that the rising music brings,
I will always be mesmerized,
every time Melanie sings.
