Just Give me a Shot

We look at each other,
A table in between me and her,
What do you see in him I wonder,
“He’s just like me” she answers,

How I wished I could be like your Man,
Strong and handsome,
He’s definitely the ladies’ man,
Confident and suave,
How could anyone not resist,
His smile, his charm,
It definitely has captivated your heart

Then I look at me,
Simple as I can be,
“I am deep and sophisticated”
sometimes I kid myself,
Who am I compared to your man?

And yet I don’t want to be compared,
I want you to see me as I am,
Cuz that’s all I have, that’s all I can be,
Not an inch more, not an inch less.

I wish you could see my heart,
Sincere love, that’s all I got,
I wish you looked beyond the glaze,
And just love the real Face,

I am not ‘the real deal’,
No I can’t convince you that,
Too soon to tell, too soon to decide,
But I wish you’d give me just one shot,
To see where we can go with our hearts
