That Call

i lift the telephone from the cradle
this is something i want to do
my nose starts to twitch
i dial the number
checking it three times
to make sure it is right
wondering if it is
day or night where he lives
will i wake him or will he be up
will he be relaxing or be busy
my hands become clammy
i think of what i am going to say
i worry that i talk to fast
will he understand me when i speak
i tell myself to relax and breath
when i am nervous this is what i do
