I smell it, this delectable scent,
Wafting between the rows,
I can see it, splattered in crimson,
The books are stained with it.
I feel it, smearing across my bony white cheek.
I can taste it, trickling down my throat.
My soul is drowning in this red sin.
I can feel their presence,
Surrounding this library,
Their swords unsheathed.
Auras with a murderous intent
Daring to seal this sinly demon
Forever in this Kingly tomb.
I lean with my back against the shelf
And gaze up towards the darkening heavens
Of the encircling walls lined with parchments
Etched with the knowledge of the Kings…
My blood red eyes linger at the lonely window
Perched high, as if made for God to peer through…
His last light disappears.
The moon is high.
The pure white snow begins to cascade.
The stage is set.
The last stand begins…
