Darkness

Darkness comes in the light of day
In the place where love died

Tears have dried on searching eyes
With words that walked with lies

Dreams move with shadow grace
In the hallways of the heart

Songs fading on the wind
The ending not the start

Still the soul looks to the light
The love may still grow new

Yet it dies is the longest night
In the early morning dew

  • Another tragic beauty from you...

    "Songs fading on the wind
    The ending not the start"

These lines reached out punched me in the stomach, felt every bit of pain they were born from.

You write with such beauty and from such an emotional place within.

    Very touching John!

This poem is so sadly beautiful! As all have said, a very wonderful write!

  • As has previously been stated, this is a beautifully reflective piece of poetry...one that can be "felt" by the reader.

    Thank you for your entry.

    Very Heartfelt John

    Good Morning,
Your words will touch the reader's hearts as it has touched mine. We all have that one love that seems to stay in our hearts forever no matter how hard we try to forget them. I found out very recently we must remember the good and sweet they once brought us and forget the hurt and move on. It is a hard slow process and not an easy task. I always enjoy your poems. They touch deep in my heart. Blessings and love dear friend.

    Always, Sandy
