Will you feel sad but make amends,
Will you feel guilt or cry—
Maybe you'll feel nothing—
Not even wonder why.
Will you decide to write and send
A card or come in person,
Or maybe not do anything;
Live life like nothing burst in.
Will you say “She was my good friend!—
Can't believe I didn't see!”
Or maybe you will realize
That you never did know me.
Will you reach out for attention
With teary eyes, walk at a crawl,
Tell all sympathetic ears
“I was her friend—she should have called”.
Will you remember all the Thens,
Put undertones behind the actions,
Imagining my words, unspoken,
What might have happened had you acted.
Will you mull daily 'till the end—
Can't get it off your brain,
Or will you roll your eyes away;
Shrug me away, since I'm to blame.
Will you forget me round the bend—
Years pass, now you have aged,
Then, briefly struck, you stop to muse:
Brittany will always stay the same.
