ARE YOU WATCHING
I often wondered when God took you away
If you begged him to let you stay
If you tried to get more time on earth
Did you ask him for one more day?
Were you in so much pain that
You were glad to see him come
Even though you would be leaving us
Were you ready to be called home?
Did you walk through the open doors
Then look back on your family
Did you see the pain and desperation?
That you’re leaving had caused me
Do you watch over us and care for us
Do you walk beside us everyday
Are you up there seeing what has
Happened to us, since you went away
Are you looking down on us smiling
Or, are you filled with sadness and remorse
Are you trying with all your heart
To direct us back on course?
If you are up there watching, and
You are looking down on me
Help me pray my prayers, that
Your son’s again, will my son’s be
I know you are in a better place
Where you don’t feel the pain and misery
Where Mother’s don’t have a reason to cry
Where someday, in that better place I will be
