your quill frightens me...
one so young should
not know a quarter
of what your mind seems
to possess, and;
a drop of your ink holds
much more thought
than some thrice your age
or even more.
words are splayed on the page
each acting as a poetic SOS
from a child who never was
never allowed to be
I see the flares and they harsh at me
in ways I never thought possible;
my mellow is now a rough sea of pain for you.
your childhood innocence screams for you
but it saddens me that you can't seem to hear its cry
you're too far gone, too fast.
dear child...
the world was terribly mean.
one so young should
not know a quarter
of what your mind seems
to possess, and;
a drop of your ink holds
much more thought
than some thrice your age
or even more.
words are splayed on the page
each acting as a poetic SOS
from a child who never was
never allowed to be
I see the flares and they harsh at me
in ways I never thought possible;
my mellow is now a rough sea of pain for you.
your childhood innocence screams for you
but it saddens me that you can't seem to hear its cry
you're too far gone, too fast.
dear child...
the world was terribly mean.
Author notes
Most people would read her poetry and be amazed and even wish to be like her at her so tender age. I am more saddened than amazed. There is a reason children are innocent and less-knowing of the world than us adults are and it seems like this poor girl never got to have that less-knowing innocence. She is 11 years old.

"they harsh at me"
that really is worded strangely. Might want to take a look at that one. Nicely done dearie! And thanks a lot for being respectful of my line limit! Not really anyone else abided by it -

I made up my own phrase.
It made sense to me at the time, I think I meant it to be akin to "they grate at me" but I've just now realized that the phrase is "they grate ON me" Who says the dictionary is the be all and end all of the english language? hmm? LOL
Thanks for the HM.
