I lost you once, I lost you twice
I will not try again
You take me for a silly girl
Boy, you've met your end
I'm sorry I believed you
When you said that you were mine
I've fallen for that once before
Someone else used that very line
All I did was think of you
I lie awake, I lie awake
I strummed the strings on my guitar
To remember the music we'd make
The echoes finally died away
The humming sang its last
Unless I let you go, I've got
A future in the past
I close my eyes and cannot hear
The aching of my heart
I should have put down the guitar
Before all this could start
Acoustics play our somber song
And echo on the walls
I'll lie awake and listen
Till the tune fades and falls
