within walls of cranium
knows not of boundaries or rule.
the book of moral teaching
was burned page by page,
cauterized to ash:
here, right or wrong
is seldom defined.
what is to be said
of my sin that lies
scattered in gray matter?
insanity will be my plea.

"the book of moral teaching
was burned page by page,"
An amazing couple of lines, I took these to be quite philosophical as most things relating to the Bible are.
Although I felt you let these two magnificent lines down by droning - you did need a much stronger ending to pull these two lines to their own glory!
However a well deserved gold, and brilliant for a quickie indeed!
Thank you for entering!
Sophie.

burned page by page...
I asked a junkie sage what he thought about the end of the world one time. He started a fire in a metal bucket, and sat down with a very theatrical air and a newspaper in front of it. Over the course of an hour he read and burned every page in the paper. Then he ate an apple, and threw the core into the flames. After dusting off his hands v e r y s l o w l y.... he turned to me with a smile and said "It would take quite a while to burn the entire world that way, wouldn't it?"
I said all that to say I really, really dug this. -

thank you very much, neat story

you are incredible.. jeesh.
the town in my cranium has a library of books, mostly filled with empty pages, and the moral one has a few pages left in it... slowly being ripped out to be shredded.
my plea is guilty as charged.

Interesting write. I love the way you used 'gray matter' instead of brain.
Best of luck.
