So Many Shimmering Pools, Guys

Yes, beware-

there are so many shimmering pools, guys...

my advice?

lose yourself in but one…

I know, guys, that it is in our nature,

our very fiber and essence,

maybe the basis of our very existence

to go boinging around

from pool to pool in hyper-drive,

tasting all there is to taste,

sowing all that we have to sow

[and why is it that we have so much to sow?]

...but pools are meant to be savored long,

maybe forever, definitely slow under the sweltering heat,

as one…

For, you see,

there is far and wide,

and there is deep…

Explore the deep, guys…

Football, Swim Team, and Ethics 101

For some reason I thought it was "go long", but that may be regional. Football has little to do with pools of thought, perhaps "go deep" is better. Still waters do run deep, as is hinted by your side image.

da! (as a frustrated Russian says)... I'm changing the title back from "Go Deep, Guys" to "So Many Shimmering Pools, Guys"... too much pigskin in the former...! (the message is lost in the cheer of the stadium...) but then again... I may be going back and forth on the title for a long while... same between "go deep" and "explore the deep"...

When it inspires Russian, it's deep!

The skirt tried to skirt the issue, but her skirt became entangled. Well, "shimmering pools" are nice and they fit the image. "Deep" is the quintessential expression of what your writing is. Probably too deep for me, but I embarrass easily, so I went with the water....

  • Perfect

This really a prolific write. Something for the masses to read. I enjoyed the cynical way u spoke to the men about dipping in all those pools and ended with go deep. Love it!

you know, in my memory that last line "explore the deep, guys" always comes out as "go deep, guys"... (too much NFL?!) I might as well change it and get it over with...

      • U didn't have to change it on my account. Just cuz I'm old and can't remember what I just read. I liked Explre the deep. But go deep works too. Oncve again prolific!

  • Excellent

'tis a very fine write, indeed. You have expressed your self quite well. Thanks for sharing this one with us.

I just had a thought- maybe if you just 'look' at a guy like you're a shimmering pool... (you know, mind-control...)

thanks, I guess you should spread the word... lol the world will be a better place...

  • And why is it that we have so much to sow?

Who knows? But very nicely written.

I'll be savoring these shimmering pools.

Thanks for the advice and good luck on future writes.

I think we must fight nature in a civilized society...! and so it must be, but with the prospect of deep, I don't think it is all that bad... deep is, after all, the cure for such insecurities (as if we're missing out on something if we aren't the (flighty and shallow and ultimately miserable) "far and wide" types)...

Why, thank you, Mr. wbiro! You have offered some very wise advice here...it should be strongly adhered to...

I think I like those last four lines the best

"you like the last four lines the best" I will take as "please make the middle part more clear"... lol and I'm going to try... for I can get a little muddled...

        not exactly ....

I just felt like the last 4 lines just sent the message home, lol....I think more guys should 'explore the deep' a little more

I think the inspiration was your expression- like you were looking at a far-and-wide type, with a bit of exasperated (and tragic) disappointment...!
