At times my muse will go away.
She says sometimes she needs to play
so off she’ll go - I don’t know where -
as though she doesn’t seem to care.
I say to her “Oh please come back
without you here the words I lack.
I have to keep up with the rest
with you away they’re not my best.”
.I beg and plead “Please stay with me”
but no, she says she must be free,
that I should find another Muse
she thought that I could borrow Hugh’s
I might go out and find a man
to be my Muse, I’m sure I can
convince someone to come with me
and stand behind so he may see
And then my Muse she may come back
They’ll fall in love and hit the sack.
Between the two, love poems might merge.
I’ll write each time I have the urge.
How grand that sounds to have them here
and by my side I’ll keep them near
and, when I sleep, that’s when they love
to walk and watch the stars above.
I hope you understand my plight
and why sometimes I never write
so, please don’t think I’ll run away,
as here is where I’d like to stay
I love the friends I’ve made in here.
Hugh’s group is fun and oh so dear,
the topics great for us to choose
if only I could find my MUSE!

My muse was MIA for a good six months and still hasn't accounted for its whereabouts during that time but I'm positive there was some mischief involved. lol
A very fun write Jenelda

A Non-entry? I think a cautious way to enter and not so doing, that makes me think, why a contest like this need to exclaim it than to in house, sort it out. When my muse is absent, I simply look out for word banks, the very best way to cure brain block. Yet you show how much time we get to socialise in that if we cannot do it at home via the internet, what is this world coming to. Lovely write.

It's NON-Entry Titus because I won Contest number 44 so I have to host this one and Host's can't vote, but they can submit a NON-ENTRY, therefor their entries are not eligible for voting, the same as Hugh, he is the group owner and always enters a NON-entry as he helps the host count the votes as they come in. Socializing on AP is a way of making friends, it's not just a poetry site, I have friends on here that I made when I first joined AP. I love the Internet and most of my time is spent on AP or talking to friends on messenger. As you get to know us you will find we are a pretty good group.
My Muse is not really lost.

Psst... You didn't hear it from me, but a little birdie is whispering in the courtyard that Hugh is collecting everyone's Muse and plans to hold them for ransom... seems to me that he has been dreaming about some wild exoctic around the world trip for some years now, and well the story goes that he each time he tried to take the trip, he spent all his funds on the ladies on the first leg.
So he has devised this plan to ransom one Muse each leg of his new trip to ensure that he makes it the entire way this time. Remember... you didn't hear it from me!
Great poem, solid rhythm and rhyme, I loved it!

Dear Suzi,
What an ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT idea!!
I don't know where you got your inside information from but it's spot on. It's not that I ever paid for the ladies' actual favours on those aborted trips but all the wining and dining is SO expensive overseas and the luxury apartments cost a man a fortune - even just for one night!!
I'm always amazed how quickly my Credit Card Company panics!!
I have to confess that it was largely Angelica's idea to kidnap everyone's Muse (female ones only!) and hold them to ransom but I'll have to buy another castle to contain them and I need an accountant to assess the amounts of ransom needed to defray expenses plus a qualified dietitian to help me work out the logistics of feeding them all.
What should I call my collection of Muses? A Musearem?
I'll grab YOUR Muse first!! LOL ROFLMAO.
Love and hugs
XXX Hugh (R.)

Dear Hugh,
Perhaps you should have checked just a wee bit more into my background before inviting me into your castle because solving crimes is what I do best.
Now dear, since we have this mystery uncovered and you have stated your intentions clearly... shouldn't you hire a chef who can cook a mouse' to feed your collection of breast? -
-
I'm quite happy with what I got thankyou, Susan. Further checking unnecessary.
BTW. MUSES are not particularly noted for breastworks. I already have some excellent chefs in the Castle.
Angelica says it was mainly YOUR idea - the kidnapping and the ransom. Watch for my Non-Entry in this contest! LOL

Really? WoW! The sneaky King, he must've been the one who stole my Muse, oh glory be, my lips are sealed, I never heard it from you.

From what I read you muse is not too far away from you..this is a cute and fun poem to read...Darlene

Dear Jen,
I would gladly lend you my muse but, like your own, mine has gone away again and, in consequence, I am myself smitten with a bad case of 'writer's block'. In the meantime, I am delving into my archive of unfinished or unposted poems in an attempt to remain active on the site while I can't think of anything new to write.
I hope that both our muses come back but, in the meantime you have done very well without yours.
Applause, love and hugs, XXX Hugh (R.)

Oh, Jen---I'm rooting for you
to find a male muse, or any male
that makes your heart go pitty pat,
for that situation will speed your fingers
across the keys!!!

I'd lend you mine, but independent and mischievous, she never does as she is told, or even when asked with all courtesy! Great, aren't they when they play?
Enjoyed it mightily!
