My Red MR2

Missing image
A little red demon, my MR2,
It's low and grabs hold of the ground.
Toolin' 'round a sharp corner together,
That squeal is a heart warming sound.

Open the door and crawl into the seat,
It swallows me up like its child.
I slam it in gear and press on the gas,
A team, and the ride will be wild.

First gear, then second, now third into fourth,
The pedal pressed down to the floor.
Me and the red thing, we're now two as one,
Come on buddy, give me some more.

The engine revs build, a sweet high pitched whine,
It's a song that pleases my ears.
Come on my friend, give me all that you've got,
Flat out, but there's still one more gear.

A red blur we are, I shift into fifth,
Just a road, a fast car, and me.
Zooming cross country with the wind whipping through,
Nothing else matters, just we three.

Cradled right there in that tight bucket seat,
No cares in the world as we drive.
Just me and that little red MR2,
Together and so, so alive.

Author notes

Love that 1987 MR2, a beautiful car to have and to drive.  Lots of fun and memories shared.

    Lol.
This is cute! I'd never dedicate a poem to my Accord. She doesn't like me very much.
But this was awesome and that's a really nice car.

Your poem gave me quite a laugh, as I was beginning to believe no one on AP had a sexy fast car. But yours apparently is both. A fun write about the joys of speed on an open road. (And I'll just bet you could give my Mini the ride of her life!)
Good luck in the contest and on all the curves in life's road.

Aaaah the adrenaline rush can be magnificant can't it?! This brings back memories when I used to drag race (I never lost one either lol), but the real enjoyment came from highways you could see forever on and not have to worry about traffic, then could go thru the gears and let'er fly! Thanks for the mental rush, the memories, and the ride! Sweet looking car -- Great write, I enjoyed! Keep on sharing your talent.
