Oh, Say can't you see the cross?

Oh, Say can't you see?
our nations in poverty
we have to pay for freedom, what's right, and liberty
everyday tears are shed
for the people who have bled
and lives have been given
for those who are driven
to live a simple, happy life
that is carefree and has no strife
We take for granted what we have now
Oh, Lord can't you help us some how?
This country is sinking fast
I for one know it won't last
What ever happened to In God We Trust
To have God number one in our lives is a must
Now all we do is sit around
While this nation falls to the ground
Has anyone considered the lives that it has cost?
But Jesus did more when he died on the cross
He saved us from being alone and sin
So that when we die we will go to heaven
and that all you have to do is call upon his name
then he will put into your heart a burning flame
that will never go out even after you're gone
and in your mouth he will put an everlasting song
for you to sing and bring others to him
So maybe this broken country can come together again
