Wanting

Suspense
stolen looks
and hidden secrets
waiting for a chance
for a moment.

What to do
what to say,
what if
what then.

Over thought
over reaction.

But stop,
wait.

Hesitant steps
softly behind me.
I freeze in place,
gentle hands on my waist.
Slowly I'm turned
silence broken by
two thrashing heartbeats.

A nervous peck,
never so comfortable.

And as with every good,
great
first kiss
I'm left wanting more.

  • Woo!

This is a great one. I'm thinking my second favourite in this contest. Though- its a close call. Between http://allpoetry.com/poem/5393351 and this one. Beautiful job!

    "Slowly I'm turned
    silence broken by
    two thrashing heartbeats."

It's intense, in love, in nervousness!
