Needles in the Rain

I looked around me feeling the rain hit my face with piercing needles
Closed my eyes as tight as I could and leaned forward trying to cover my head with my hands
The blood trickled down my skin as I felt each one jab into my flesh
The world had torn and beatin’ me apart with its cruelties
Every inch of my body was in agony
I cried and I screamed for countless hours waiting for the needles to stop
I just wanted to get away from all the pain but there was nowhere to go
Nowhere to hide
Nothing ever seemed to work no matter what I did

I didn’t think that there was hope
Until I saw you there staring up at me
My heart started beating way too fast
And then we kissed and everything was suddenly fine

I was flying
I never thought that I could breathe again
You’ve shown me life
You’ve shown me love
You’ve shown me everything that I want to become

All the pain is gone and I cannot even begin to express how thankful I am
I can laugh again
The scars are hardly apparent.

And then you leave me
Broken in the rain
Screaming as the needles pierce through my heart
Once more...
