I was born here,
This is where I keep my memories.
The people here,
Almost a family, Almost.
My town is dying,
My family is leaving,
And I've left my family.
I wish it stayed the way it was.
I knew this town,
Now it's a stranger.
I thought they were my family,
But they were strangers too.
The river ran so beautiful,
Calming, even loving.
When I wish to be calmed,
The river is nowhere to be found.
The river's dying with the town,
Pollution and gates all around.
Now to be calmed,
It's criminal.
My town is now full of hate and strangers,
But I am in love with it.
Author notes
This is about Great Bend, KS, the hateful backstabbing people there, all of the dumb laws that have been put into place since I left, and how it completes me. I hate this town and can't live without it's magic.
