We Will Overcome

My friend Barack Obama,
Please don’t think I’m a dope
But, I clearly heard you promise it,
And still I have no Hope.

Oh, President Obama,
I know this must be strange,
But I heard about your slogans.
Now I’d really like some Change.

My friend Barack Obama,
I think you ought to know,
The truth is, I’m a fetus,
And we fetuses are slow.

So forgive me my confusion,
And try to help me out.
I would like my Hope and Change now,
‘Cause I just can’t do without.

I just want a little Hope, I’m
At the mercy of my momma,
But I know that you can Change that,
Oh, President Obama!

You see, I thought you’d get it,
We don’t want tiny graves.
It’s the same way you and yours,
Don’t want to be enslaved.

But, Barack Obama,
You’ve told us where you stand.
You say we can’t be people,
Can’t live if we’re not planned.
You say we can’t be living,
‘Cause our life has not began
But President Obama,
I tell you, ‘Yes we can.’

The liberals bankrupt the morals of our youth and cry kill the babies in the US but scream baby killers to our military . You are a brave and wonderful young person.
I love the way you have written this. The Federal government has very much to do with abortion and what slavery has to do with this is the race card rearing it's head again when they can think of nothing else to say. Our speaker of the house is promoting abortion and will have a lot to answer for. Why should the elderly not be suspicious and afraid? Look how expensive extended care is federally funded or not and baby boomers are coming of age. the ones shouting accountability? I wonder what programs they are afraid will be cut that will affect them. Military people are in Afghanistan right NOW waiting for this president to send in more troops or pull them out . The next sign these people may see will be real and will be mine Barack Obama How many troops did you kill today? while you sat not making up your mind?

    What say you...about accountability...personal responsibility?
    in your poem
you state: you want your change and hope now!

Don't we -ALL- and that is the key ingredient-
    WE
not a dictator for we are the Country of Freedom and Democracy.
    Personal responsiblity and Personal Accountability...
    together-we try to find-the middle ground-respect, honor
are no longer metaphors but a way of life in America
    for .....ALL....

    and that is the struggle
    how wonderful would it be
to place it all on the shoulders
    of one man

    forgetting our personal responsibilites
and accountablity so we can all have a peaceful nights sleep-
no worries- BLAME OBAMA...it's that easy!
no personal responsibity or no accountability.

    Good Poem
    causes much thought!

I will use a quote from your page ...

    This saying works both ways!

"Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves.
    Abraham Lincoln"

This is very well written and I am personally against abortion for myself, (that's why I had four children) and for my daughters. But let me tell you this; my daughters both had an abortion, each of them, without my knowledge, and when it was done, it was done and there was nothing I could do to change their decisions. I cried, I was angry but I forgave them, as I know God has done. They both now have children but they decided at sixteen that they were too young to have children. There is no reversal in that. It is finished.

Rose versus Wade has to be overturned by the Supreme Court, not the Presidential administration. It is not him who has to change, it is the decision of the Supreme Court.

I agree that abortions should not exist FOR ME! I cannot and have not the right to make that decision for other women.

I understand your passion. I respect your view. I don't think the answer is bombing abortion clinics or killing doctors who perform abortion either. I think the answer is education and raising our children to refrain from casual sex. I thought I failed in making that clear to my daughters but in their adulthood they explained to me that having sex was a choice just as having an abortion was.

I love the rhyme and flow of your poetry and your desire to see the murder of innocent unborn children halted. But in the same token, again I'll state that is for me. If you take away the rights of women to make that choice, not only will the unborn die but their mother's like in the past. I say let God deal with those who make that decision. He is the only judge in this case and so many others.

I am one who believes that parenthood should be planned. I had my first child at eighteen, and abortions had just become legal. I made the decision to have my child and every child thereafter, But I had that RIGHT! Everyone should have the right to choose.

I am off my soapbox now. Sorry to ramble all over your page. I truly liked your poem but felt it necessary to air my opposition to a country that would take away a woman's right to choose.

Oh and by the way SLAVERY WAS NOT A CHOICE!

Well penned and very creative. The idea of a fetus speaking from the womb is quite imaginative. As much as I like the message here, I'm afraid it would fall on deaf ears in certain political circles. They would rather take a chance of committing murder for the sake of votes and money. Regardless of your stance on abortion, if you think politicians give a rip about the value of a human life before money, you need to do a little historical research.

    Bravo!

    I really liked this ...
sadly, obama doesn't give a s--- about anyone except those pulling the strings on his almighty evil agenda.
this was heart-stopping with it's sad message.

    FINALS.

As far as flowing is concerned, this is one of your best ones I've read so far.

  • I agree, but honestly I don't like anything, NOT ONE THING, he has done.
    Good Poem.
    P.S.

    I'm prolife

    I'm impressed

I like the way this poem puts words into the mouth of a fetus. It treats a serious topic in a lighthearted way, so the rhyme and metre are strengths. Good thing too because I would probably take the opposite view to the one expressed here.

The only thing I would look over is the "graves/enslaved" rhyme, which feels a little forced.
