beneath the changing days
she stays and finds the gifts of time
and nectar from the tap of flowers
and small trees, raindrops
and brush of honeybees
settle in rich earth
and the cloak of tender years
becomes the shell, life moves
forward to increase, and the spirit
spreads within until the world whispers
"come now..."
and a tunnel to the skies
made with strengths from ages
passed to all who seek the sun
and the final cover is spent
to bring new life, and time
renders a flight of faith
wet wings filled with hope
for truly the light beckons
and a song...
then we hear the singing tree
and wonder if we learn so much
from one...
what might we see in the
songs of the tree
mourioi

You know, I've read this a bunch of times, and I just wanted to appreciate you again...this time for taking time to research the cicada and incorporate so much into the piece. You talked about their underground nesting, their habits, their molting, their song and more... It is all very metaphorical, but also so literally accurate. Thanks again!

A beautiful write of dedication and I am not surprised that the lady really appreciated every word. Very well done.

Okay, you won't think me biased if I add this to my "Favs by PK" list, 'will you? Gosh, PK, really this is splendid and so beautiful. It bears your signature style that I adore so much, making a poem of this sort all the more special. I am really humbled that you chose to spend your thoughts and ideas, these meaningful words, for me.
I love it all, but my most favorite line was the one that split the beginning from the end... the call... "come now." The call makes all the difference... Allows a meager creature to become the instrument of light and faith... to listen to the tunnel to the sky.
Amazing poetry, wonderful message....touching thoughtfulness.
May you, also, always move forward to increase.

...thanks for all

Oh man, what a lovely tribute to Ten!
Your poem paints the meaning of the word cicada so very well!
It's beautiful and fits Ten perfectly, a summer song of the cicadas
