The words fall from me and I know
if I could just keep a little faith....
You tell me of your fears,
between half breath sobs,
and I see them happening because in my heart they have already passed.
Yet all I do is watch, emotions glazed over in terror and shame,
watching it crumble under you
and all the lights of our future
blink out
departing with the smile that faded with the truth.
I do not know where you came from
why you seed and snake inside,
how each time I promise to not go before the time
you find a way to make me shadow away the honesty.
We made our memories in shallow pools,
so potent with the taste of roses,
and sour stings on our bodies and our conscious.
The dust settles over,
when the pool goes stagnant,
leaving something of a husk and which cannot be seen again
until we wish to forget.
And I have gone and filled more pools
and will turn one into springs or rapids,
until the words fall from me
and I will chase after that little dream of faith....
which escaped me and destroyed you.

Very good poem
when there is something to be said and its only a matter of time before it is said, just like the harsh realities of life when a relationship isn't working.
I think this poem is well put together, flows well.

Feelings of helplessness flow from every word of this. Both are in pain and unable the help themselves or the other. Such a sad emotional poem but done so well.

It does seem like they are quite helpless but I also believe that love is dependant on our ability to keep faith, despite all past hurts and all current fears, though it is not an easy task. Thank you for taking a look.
