The Moon emerges through the clouds
Lights up the countryside
Nocturnal creatures creep to and fro
Always ready to dash and hide
Unsettled by the scent of Man
They seek shelter in their lair
Experience has taught them well
To hide when Man is there
The world they know is fixed and true
Never known what it is to be sure
One thing they know for certain
For Man..there is no cure
Please tell me what you think

Piercingly truthful and heartfelt
This poem cuts straight to the heart with a truth many of us would rather not face---that Man is destroying our planet and the natural world is at his mercy. The imagery of "the moon emerges through the clouds" is mysterious, but sets the cautious tone of the poem, which is carried throughout by the "nocturnal creatures" who know to "hide when Man is there". This poem is a considerate and timely reminder of how dangerous our mishandling of nature is, and the end result is supported very well in the title and last line: "no cure", "there is no cure".

For Man there is no cure...
I like that ending. For animals that sure is true.

Dad,
Unfortunately you are right......
I so wish we could change that, but maybe someday we as human beings, will wake up and see what changes need to be made to do just that. I don't know, but we can hope anyways!
