It was his hands
First...gestures
when he spoke so did his hands
graceful swallows in flight
a crane's beak dipped into still waters
as he made his point with a smile
later...working
he typed away utterly absorbed
sandpipers delicately pecking a living
woodpeckers drilled their way home
he hammered nails into a wooden frame
much later...loving
his fingers brushed my cheek
hummingbirds feathering petals while drinking sweet nectar
and while his hands brushed my contours
waxwings skimmed treetops searching for the ripest fruit

could also be titled Why I Fell For Him...please let me know if you think the title should be changed to that

I like the title as it is... Very original poem. You have taken the descriptions of love in a different direction. I think most will be pleasently surprised and please with this read. thank you for sharing, kp
